Bug-fix release update

This is a post/thread for keeping you updated on the progress on the bug-fixing /small-feature-changes. I have here listed the bugs that we have registered and status of them. If you believe that I have forgotten any please post here. I'm keeping the description short to save time, so I hope you can follow what I mean.

Bugs fixed:
1. In Cuopons - tag misplaced (Chrome). FIXED
2. Meta tags not working. FIXED
4. Wrong logos showing in Admin - System Settings. FIXED
5. "Prev and Next "buttons with only one photo. FIXED
6. Email not sent when Quote function is used. FIXED
8. Feedback not sending correctly formatted email. FIXED
9. Black "photo box" in Event Manager, Autos, Real estate, Classifieds. FIXED
10. Custom background doesn't work. FIXED
11. Advertisement manager: CPMs CPCs should be IMP og CTR. FIXED
12. Apostrophes ( ' ) not allowed in listings. FIXED
13. Various template-tag bugs. FIXED
16. Currency issue with PayPal redirect. FIXED
17. Banner details (globus click) not working (database error). FIXED
22. "Empty" user sign-up's. FIXED
19. Wrong page when in "Edit Code Advertisement". FIXED
20. Custom pages, Spotlight and CMS pages won't save (apostrophe problem). FIXED

Feature additions/changes made:
3. Reduced public information on users. Done
7. Too many "required" fields in listings signup. Done
14. Non-members not allowed in photo section. Done
15. "Seller user" not allowed in "Quotes" and "Add Video". Done
18. Adding possibility to by-pass PayPal (for countries not working with PP). Done
23. "Listing created" confirmation email sent to admin when new listings are made. Done
24. Added "number of clicks received" to Features Companies listing (Admin). Done
25. Featured Listing: Users cannot make listing "featured" anymore. Only Admin can. Done.
26. Automatic removal of users who have failed to activate in 3 days (user spam prevention). Done.
21. Banners not showing (Advertisement Manager). Done.

Missing bugs:
None :D

After the last problems have been fixed we will run through the script to verify that it's ready for a pre-release. My hope is then that I can find some volunteers in here that will install and use/test the script and give us some feedback before the final fix-release. So, let me know who's up for the privilege of being the first with a 99%-100% bug free script!

count me in as a live test. with over 10,000 pageviews a month my site should be a good test.... also i am itching to get this site active/bug free so I can start marketing it... in fact since it is hosted with you feel free to upload the new files at any time. The only real thing I am concerned about it not losing the few user accounts I have. and well content too..

i don't suppose the update/bugfix for the meta description is ready.. it's the main thing for me.. i really don't want google to stop coming to my site because the description is all the same thoughout the site.. or the PR crawler to come before my site is sorted. I have SEO people sorting out my search engine stuff and they can't do a huge amount until i can get the relevent description for each page.

It's fixed yes the meta tag problem. Let me see if I can find the files that controls that and send them / upload them. I'll let you know..

Steve I have attached the two files that should fix the meta-tags problem.

Notice that if you have made changes to the header.tpl file, you will need to transfer those changes to the new file I give you here.

header.php.inc (goes in the /includes/)
header.tpl (goes in the /templates/default/ directory)

On the page where you edit the meta-tags in admin, notice that " Metatags:" is the description tag. Title is the title-tag and keywords the keywords-tags. This has been made clear in the final version.

i officially now have a headache..

the title and description seem to be ok, but the keywords don't work at all.. no keywords appear..

Sorry to hear about your headache.

Problem is that you'r getting a few files to fix a single problem. There has been relative big changes to the code, so it wasn't enough with these files. We need to do the full update in order to get it to work. I can do it if you want or I can send you the files and you can do it. As you prefer.

Hi Steve, I looked again and I think I forgot a file. Please see if it works with this one (system_variables.php.inc) also uploaded to includes/ directory.

If not, we'll talk about doing a full upgrade.

How far away from a stable bug free release?

Check out the first post in this thread. I keep it updated. As you can see there is just one main issue left, which is being worked on. After that is fixed we'll use a couple of days to check through that all works as it should and then we'll release it "officially". Apart from that we have some users now that are already using what is ready of the pre-release and they are kind enough to let me know if they see anything not in order.

Finally, the last major bug, the banner issue in the advertisement section has been fixed. It was rather complicate to get under control, but it looks to be working as intended now. We have test it back and forth and have not seen any problems, but I would also like to hear the opinion from our dear pre-release testers. I have updated your websites with the latest script, so please go ahead and see what you think.

We will give it some days for testing etc and then the final update will be officially released.

Yes, news in the sense that the release seems to be stable. By this I mean that I have not gotten new reports on problems/bugs for a while now.
This version is the version that is now available from the download area, so you can go ahead and use it. I will give it a few more days before I upgrade it to an official update.

where abouts is this download ?? i see the security updates from August but nothing extra

It's simply the full script zip file that you should download. There are so many changes that making a folder with updated files would include almost all files anyway.
So, do a download of the script (v1.3.53_09100.zip) and follow the instructions for upgrading. In case of problems support is on stand-by here: phpcityportal.com/support :)

not that important, but.. i don't know if it is because some of us have un encrypted files, the feedback and contact pages don't show description and keywords..

Hi steve. If you have updated the files which is necessary in order to get the meta tags to work in general - then the meta keywords and description and title needs to be entered under "Meta Tags" in the admin panel. You will find both Feedback and Contact us there. You probably don't see any keywords and description because the fields are empty.

i know.. i have uploaded all the files etc.. updated the keywords/description/ title and nothing happens on the contact us and feedback pages.

Yes you are right! A couple of lines missed in a file - result was that the meta tags was not pulled from the database. I attached the file that fixes this problem - upload it to the includes folder overwriting the existing one.

Hi Martin,

I don't know if it's just me but i cannot select the green template.. when i do, all i get is the blue one. i have uploaded the files again from templates but still blue.. Default is ok. Blue is ok. Green is Blue..:eek:

Sounds like a wrong or corrupted css file. Try uploading the attached file to templates/green/css/.. should fix it..
